Historical Reenactments of the Tuscan Wedding of the Fifties

Saturday night…
Everyone at dinner in the Village, with Vigil in the barn (Tales of Tuscan stories and verses with all the guests and relatives of the couple) with preparation of the parade of the next day.

Breakfast in the small square with the departure of the two processions, one of the bride and one of the groom and their respective relatives; Friends and acquaintances parade through the streets of the village and arrive at the square in front of the Church for the Wedding. Rifle Shots and Launch of Confetti frame it all. Wedding lunch with typical dishes of Rural tradition with Traditional singers improvising mischievous rhymes and verses and singing them between one course and the other. At the end of lunch, all go to the Hague, where a table laden and the housewife expect them for a second wedding lunch, while a musician with his accordion starts playing. The Bride opens the dances, dancing first with the father, or best man, and then all the guests start to dance in joy until late evening.

Sheep Cheeses (Pecorini) from the Shepherd of Pienza with Zia Marisa’s Jams
Beans prepared in the traditional way of the housewives (Fagiolini all’Uccelletta della Massaia)
Garden vegetable soup (Ribollita dell’Orto) / Handmade pasta with a sauce made like Yesteryear (Pici al Sugo di una Volta)
Chianina Beef Stew (Lesso di Chianina) with Traditionally prepared Beans (Fagioli al Fiasco)
Roast made from a blend of Courtyard Animals (Arrosto misto di Animali del Cortile) with Baked Potatoes (Patate al Forno)
Wedding Cake (Torta degli Sposi)
